CONCEPT

The Team is a 13 episodes of Lebanese social drama series based on a football team representing the various communities of Lebanon which extending the themes of acceptance of the "other" by exposing youth to positive messages and behavior models that foster acceptance, mutual understanding, civic participation and violence reduction.

Storylines will feature characters who overcome significant problems both on and off the football field to achieve shared goals. Episodes will feature positive role models and will promote understanding and acceptance. They will demonstrate that violent conflict is not inevitable and that peaceful solutions are possible. The core metaphor will be very simple: if characters do not play together, they will not score goals. In other words, they will demonstrate cooperative behaviour, which is essential both to winning at football and to peacefully resolving the pressing problems that their country faces.

Just as the World Cup brings together fans despite boundaries that seem insurmountable in everyday life, so too does The Team aim to spark in viewers a sense of belonging to something bigger than narrowly-defined, exclusive identities.

The overall goal of The Team is to strengthen relationships among youth in Lebanon across political, religious, socio-economic and other dividing lines.

The Team is to equipped teachers with the skills necessary to entrench a culture of teamwork and sportsmanship amongst young people.

A shift in the way young people deal with conflict.
